Exporting Data for Visio

Good Morning,
I was debating if this should go in this forum or the other, but I've decided here until further comment:

I'm using Excel and Visio 2016. I've got a bunch of data all nicely in various cells, some cells merged, etc in excel. I'm trying to move it over to Visio. I can save the workbook and then move the last "visible" or viewed worksheet in the workbook into Visio as an "object", but then it doesn't update whatsoever (automatically or manually) in Visio if I update anything in Excel.....and that's a problem.
I'm tried doing "quick import" and "custom import" under the data tab of Visio but those seem like they always want to link the excel data to objects, which I don't want....But I could be doing something wrong. Anyone have ideas here? Google has not been much of a friend on this one and I'm operating in the field right now, so I don't have the bandwidth for youtube videos...

Thanks

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
