Hello,

I am trying to connect to a SQL Database to a Pivot Table via a slicer. I opened the file and did a Refresh and got the following error message:

"Data could not be retreived from external data source."
"Error Message returned by external data source:"

"Query (16, 23) The level '&[3.]' object was not found in the cube when the string, [GREENLIST.PROD].[EnviornemntalRating01.].&[3.], was parsed."

I click OK. Then another error message comes up:

"A Pivot Table, cube function or slicer connection "Greenlist BI Cube" has failed to refresh. Continue to refresh all? OK/Cancel?"

I found Pivot Table 16 & Pivot Table 23 and disconnected them from the slicer connection and refreshed the report again and still got the error. Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it? Is it an Excel issue or SQL database issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, MOE10134

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
I figured it out by deleting the Slicer and recreating it and connecting Pivot Table to new slicer and doing another refresh and it works fine. =)
