I was wondering if there was any quick way to get rid of a Square caused by converting a PDF to Excel ?
I have thousands of cells to go through.. so it would be a tedious task to enter every cell... and press backspace to clear it

Here is a picture of my problem... You can see the extra line in the Formula Bar

Is there anything in Excel that I could use.. script or format.. that will remove it ?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

something like this.

in A1 i have "hello"
in B1 i have

=REPLACE(A1,5,4," ")

then you can fill down and copy paste once done. of course you will need to change the number values i have but give it a go :)

That does not work... as the square is not selectable.. but nice thought

That works to an extent.. except you need to change the "5" too often & errors could be overlooked
(Of note: The problem is all in 1 line... and not in 2 .. as in your A1 & A2 sample)

Any other ideas ?

ok then give this ago

=LEFT(A1, LEN(A1)-1)

this will remove the last charactor on the right side of A1

eg in A1

Thanks... It seems to do the job better.. but will test it when I get to work tomorrow
The square only appears on the pc's at work though.. here at home.. I still have the 'extra line' .. but no square

At home I use Excel 2003... at work it is 2003 as well.. but has the addon to read Office 2007 files
I don't know if that is the cause of the square... but the extra line is on all systems

I will let you know how it goes

Thank you

Ok.. It seems to be the same... Squares and all
Only way is to either use your script & adjust it when needed ... or just edit each cells

But an alternative.. is to not print the sheets from the work PC's ;)
Its not the answer I was looking for.. but it should work fine

you could make a macro to go and apply to the cells so only needing a click, but yes would still need to do something, unless there is a better way of importing the file but I dont know alot about that :)
