Extra text with brackets from text field

Hi All,

I have a text field such as

(AULOPT0043-AU1-A015900) Def R

I want to be able to extract the text/numbers between the brackets ie. AULOPT0043-AU1-A015900.

The text/numbers between the brackets may vary in length.

Does anyone have ideas for a forumula that could do this for me?

Assuming the text is in cell A1:

=MID(A1,SEARCH("(",A1)+1,SEARCH(")",A1)-2)

Thanks JoeMo, that is absolutely perfect. I have never seen the "search" function before. Something new to learn!!
