Extracing text from a string value

Hi all

I have a cell (D2) with a string value that relates to a directory path. This will always be "C:\ARM40\filename.txt". Filename is a variable value that a user will define.

I need a formula that will return the value of filename, can anyone help? I've tried experimenting with Left() and right() but had no joy so far!

with the filepath in cell a1, try:

=MID(A1,10,((LEN(A1))-9))
