Extract data from merged cells

I am not sure how to pull the value/data from a merged cells, which is common a value/data for the corresponding entires.

The data is as under: -

OT HOURS	NAME
48	RAVI
RAJU
RAKESH
24	RANI
ASHOK

<colgroup><col width="64" span="2" style="width:48pt"> </colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>

CAN ANY ONE RESOLVE THIS ISSUE

I can't tell from the table which cells are merged.

I WANT TO extract THE OT HOURS, i.e., 48 hours for three employees [ravi, raju & rakesh] and 24 hours for two employees[rani & ashok], without un-merging, if un-merged, 48 & 24 stays only for the
first employee, i.e., 48 for ravi and 24 for rani alone and all others cells have no values.

Kindly do the needful to overcome this prob
