extract or subtract

I have two inventory lists, one is the full inventory and the other is a bill of material for one product. I want to be able to extract or subtract the bill of material of the one product from the full inventory to see potential obsolete inventory.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It sounds like an array formula will do the job, but I cannot give you a solution without more specifics - ie the length of the lists, the columns involved etc.

It sounds like you want to do the following:

sum((WholeInventory=BillOfMaterial)*(Unitswhole-UnitsBill)) but I suspect that there are other columns involved.

You may need to use the VLOOKUP function to find the inventory that will be made obsolete.

Just VLOOKUP the volumes/values of the Product's materials in the full list.

Post more info if you need more help
