Hi,

I need a formula to extract a combination of characters from a string of text.

Eg. From RIVERSIDE 1-1011 (1) PRICELINE I need to extract RIVERSIDE 1-1011 (1)

The length of the first word (RIVERSIDE) & the number combination (1-1011) both vary in length in the sample of data am working with.

I know the formaula exists as I have used it before, but I cannot recall it!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,
MJ

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
Do all of your cells contain (1), or some other number in ()? If so, you can use the Find formula to find where the "(" is located. For example, =left(cell you are searching in,find("(",cell you are searching in)-2)
