Extract the minute value from date/time?

Hello,

Say I have the following value 1/12/2009 14:49 in cell A1, custom formatted as dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm, (although for some reason when I click on the cell it shows as 01/12/2009 14:49:00 in the formular bar!). What is the formula that will extract just the minute figure (in this case 49) into say cell A2 please?

Try using MINUTE function

=MINUTE(A1)

format A2 as general
