# Extracting 1 number only from a CELL

##### New Member
Hi

I am after a formula where I can extract 1 number from a cell which contains letters and number.

Example

1 = Poor Extract the 1 in to empty cell
2 = Fair Extract the 2 in to empty cell
5 = Excellent Extract the 5 in to empty cell

The formula needs to be able to extract just the 1 number but could be any number between 1 and 5.

Thanks

Hi, not that clear what is in each cell - but looks like this maybe:

Excel 2012
AB
11 = Poor1
22 = Fair2
35 = Excellent5
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
B1=LEFT(A1,1)+0

Thanks.

How can I do the formula if searching for numbers between 1 and 5 though. As it could be any of these numbers in the cell at any one time.

Can you post some representative examples and the expected results for each?

What is actually in each cell? Is it just

1 = Poor
2 = Fair
5 = Excellent

Yes it is fine though. It has worked.
I am trying to work out Customer Satisfaction Surveys scores using formulas. I have done the NPS part but struggling to do the CSAT part.

Yes it is fine though. It has worked.

Great, thanks for letting us know - and welcome to the Forum.
