# Extracting non-Duplicates from Two Lists

#### copyboy007

##### Board Regular
I have two lists of names where the first column is the master list and the second column is a partial list of those people.

How do I create a third column listing only those people from the first column that are not in the second column (i.e., removing duplicates)?

### Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},\$Z\$1:\$Z\$99,\$Y\$1:\$Y\$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Assuming that A2:A10 contains the first list, and B2:B6 contains the second list, try the following formula which needs to be confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER...

C2, copied down:

=INDEX(\$A\$2:\$A\$10,MATCH(TRUE,IF(ISNA(MATCH(\$A\$2:\$A\$10,\$B\$2:\$B\$6,0)),ISNA(MATCH(\$A\$2:\$A\$10,\$C\$1:C1,0))),0))

Hope this helps!

Awesome!

Note that I've edited the formula. Also, the formula will not return any values that appear in the second list and not the first...

Noted and still in awe!
