Extracting specific digits from a cell

Hello!

I'm working on a project where I a specific set of data that I need to extract. It's always a specific set of digits separated by a dash (xxx-xxx, xxxx-xxxx, xxx-xxxx).

Here is an example:

The text highlighted in yellow is what I want to extract.

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Use simple UDF:
Excel Formula:
Public Function GetDateRange(ByVal this As String) As String
    Dim MyReg As Object
    Set MyReg = CreateObject("VBScript.RegExp")
    MyReg.Pattern = "\d{2,4}-\d{2,4}"
    GetDateRange = MyReg.Execute(this)(0).Value
End Function
Use as
Excel Formula:
 =GetDateRange(A1)
