I need help in getting a formula that will be able to extract a specific word from a string within a cell ie:
I want to extract "Recoverable" from a string in a cell and the word Recoverable can be at any location within that cell. I cannot use Mid as I dont know the starting point.
I could use the letter R as the search point for Match to compute the starting point for the Mid formula but need help in putting it together.

Appreciate the help.

Thanks
Asgi

Excel Facts

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
This formula should do what you need:
=MID(A1,SEARCH("recoverable",A1),11)

Hope that helps,

...and what Robert said :)

Or =IF(FIND("recoverable",A1),"recoverable","")

Or =IF(FIND("recoverable",A1),"recoverable","")

You will want to control the error generated when the FIND function cannot find the text. Also, maybe use SEARCH in place of FIND to make it case insensitive?
