I have a date and time field currently to the following format

Custom [$-10409]h:mm which shows me the following 5:59.
When I click in the cell it reads 09/11/2011 05:59:24

When I convert the format to general its 40856.24958 , what formula can I use to extract the time 05:59:24. I am then trying to compare two times.

When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Hi

The time is the decimal part of the datetime number.

Use, for ex.:

=Mod(A1,1)
