Is there any way to extract the result of a formula from a cell to which formatting has been applied.

Ie the cell (A2) from which I want to extract the result of a formula is:

=TEXT(date(year(A1),month(A1)+1,0),"dd-mmm-yy")

And I want to extract the result of the formula (eg 31-May-04).

Is there any way to achieve this?

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
How do you mean extract the result. In your example, if you put 31/5/04 in A1, the formula in A2 will give the result you have sited. What are you actually looking for? The serial number? Try --(A2) if you want to convert it into a number Excel recognises.

I want to be able to use the result of the formula in A2 in another cell, ie in cell A3 I want to manipulate the result of the formula in cell A2.

The full formula in cell A2 is ="As at "&TEXT(date(year(A1),month(A1)+1,0),"dd-mmm-yy")

If you attempt to manipulate the result of such a formula, you get an error as it has text in it ("As at ").

How do I extract just the result of the operation of the formula (31-May-04)?

Why not change the formula to show the date and format as follows:

=date(year(A1),month(A1)+1,0)

Format as "At at" dd-mmmm-yy (type quotes in)

Or, presuming A1 has the date in it, just change the custom format of A1, without using A2 as an intermediary.
