Hello. I have inherited a file from a former coworker that is password protected. When I open it, it asks for a password for write access. otherwise it opens as read only. I have the password but would like to remove this protection or at least change the password.

When i look on the File>info menu or review tab, it gives me options to add protection but not to unprotect. like excel doesn't even know its password protected. Any ideas?

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Sounds like the password is being called from a macro ?
Do you have any macros in the workbook ?
