Hi All,

Is there any way I can restric the access to the shared workbook?

Here is my problem:

We have a shared workbook which is used by many persons for updates. now every now and then we get the message that file is locked. Sometimes it gives the message that someone has locked the file but in real that person had closed the file long back.

Also what i want is, everyone can update the data within the tracker but i want to restric the access for some options like: Other users should not be able to access the "Share Workbook", "Protection" functionality, and some other functionality which are supposed to be set by the anchor/admin of the tracker. Other users should only be able to update the row data.

I hope i have made myself clear, if not please let me know.

Thanks for your precious time.

The best way to achieve what you are looking for is:
1. Keep your database in an Access table
2. Using VBA make your Excel file as a front end, meaning the users will enter data in Excel and it will be uploaded into the access table
3. Make your Excel file ReadOnly
