file name comparison

I have a file that resides on a sharepoint drive (excel file), but I use VBA coding in it so people save it to their desktop to use it.
So the file on the local system (as example) is "testsheet.xlsm". The file on the sharepoint drive will obviously have the same name.
When someone opens the file locally, I need it to check (let's say every Monday) that the file names on the local drive and the sharepoint drive are exactly the same. This way, if I update the file on sharepoint (by adding a (1) to it or whatever), they will receive a popup telling them to delete their file and download the new one.
This is the only way I can see to make sure everyone is keeping up with my updates. The file is used all across the world and sadly, it would be impossible to explain to everyone that they need to go there and open it on the desktop every time...
