The file size of some of my workbooks seem way too large, to the point it doesn't make sense to me. Does anybody have any tips on keeping files small? Or advice on what adds to size other than the amount of data.

An example: I have a file that's 460M kb. I recorded a macro to take part of the data from one sheet, copy it to another & format it differently. And the file size went to 7+ mb! At most it seems like it would've doubled.

THANKS for any pointers you have!

Thanks so much for the info. I didn't know Excel had this problem. I thought I'd pass on what I figured out...

Using auto filter on one sheet (last cell was OK on this sheet), I filtered, selected goto, special, visible cells only & copied to another sheet. This set the last cell on the copied sheet to 65,420! The small macro you pointed me to didn't work, but the one where you could force a particular cell to be the last cell did.

Thanks again! This is the greates site!!!
