Hi i was wondering if anyone can tell me why the file sizes in xl vary so much. I have this one work book i am working on that varies between 800k to 1500K. I am not adding any substantial data to the workbook, just messing with code. If i try saving the workbook a couple of the times the file size changes.

Thanks. Keep up the good work.

Excel motto
Not everything I do at work revolves around Excel. Only the fun parts.
No idea, I get the same. I believe it's because of the "garbage" that gets included in the file from the VBA running and editing, because if you export everything (Modules, Forms, Class modules, etc.), and reimport them, the file should change dramatically !

Hi

You say MESSING with code your need to clean out the VBA as Juan says, and clean the data sheets will be trashed, CLEAR contence to ever un data cell and cell

Few other tricks, delete unused Wk Sheets, and so on

Sounds you have baggage all over the place.

You may want to look at these sites:

An article on "Worksheet Bloat".

Also recommended is
http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/ExcelProblems.htm

In addition, you may want to look at Rob Bovey's code cleaner, a free utility that can be downloaded from:

http://www.appspro.com

To quote from Mr.Bovey's web site:

"During the process of creating VBA programs, a lot of "junk" builds up in your files. If these files aren't cleaned periodically, you will begin to experience strange problems caused by this extra baggage. Cleaning a project involves exporting the contents of all its VBComponents out to text files, deleting the components, then importing the components back from the text files."
