I have inherited a file at work that no matter where you enter data or click your cursor, the file starts calculating. I know I can turn calculations to off in the options menu but is there anyway to research what could possible be causing this problem. The file does have a good amount of Vlookups with some indirect formulas.

I can understand the file recalcing if I touch the data the Vlookup is referring to but that isnt the issue. I can can insert a blank sheet in the book, type the number 1 and the file start to calc.

If anyone has any suggestions, they would be much appreciated

Try running this macro and see if this behaviour stops

Code:

try this;

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual
End Sub

do not forget to calculate your worksheet manually (press F9) when your entities are over...
