I have a large template that I was updating. In an effort to not lose anything if I screwed up, I also updated a "copy of" file. After saving, I closed both files.
When I went to open later, the file would not fully open -- all I got was an hourglass that went on for hours. Congratulating myself for having kept two copies, I then opened the "copy of" file -- but I got the same result. A never ending hourglass. I can open all of my other excel files.
I have had a few problems with my computer lately so I sent copies of both files to three other people. Two couldn't open either file but the third could open both of them. So she was kind enough to open them, save them as a new file under a different name and return them to everybody else -- none of whom could open the newly created files.
So what gives? Why would a file open on one computer but not on others? And how do I rescue my file?
Thanks much.
