The above files were created because I added a new window to my workbook to display all whorksheets. How do I delete the ":1", etc, at the end of the files names?

Close the window with the "2" on the end, then save the file. The next time you open it, you should only get the one (normal) window.

These files were not created, you still have only 1 file FileSubmissions_BDS_2a.xls.

Just close one of the windows.
