Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
Select the column, choose Edit|Go To|Special, check Blanks and click OK. In the Formula Bar type =, press the up arrow then press Ctrl+Enter.

"Manual" method to copy values to your vertical range.
Select Range you want to Fill
Edit | Goto…
Special…
Blanks | OK
Hit the "=" key. Hit the Up arrow. Hold down Ctrl and hit Enter.
(you now have a formula in each blank cell)
Select Range again, not just blank cell range.
Crl-C to copy
Edit | Paste Special | Values
(you will now have the values in each former blank cell)

VBA method:
Code:
Sub AutoFill2()
Dim rng As Range
Dim c As Range
Dim EndRow As Integer
    EndRow = Range("B65536").End(xlUp).Row
'Assign Formula in Range
    Range("A2:A" & EndRow).SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks).FormulaR1C1 = "=R[-1]C"
'Assign Range to work with
    Set rng = Range("A2:A" & EndRow)
'Assign Value inplace of formulas
    For Each c In rng
        c.Value = c.Value
    Next c
End Sub

If you don't see a cell reference after the = when you press the up arrow, press F2 then press the up arrow.
