Filter a table by start date and finish date

Is it possible to have a table that starts on cell A3 (which contains a date field) but is auto filtered not by the usual table method but by a start date (A1) and finish date (A2) ?

And secondly: Can you point me in the right direction please?

In AutoFilters, if you click Date Filters, there is a Between option. But for that, you would need to hard-code in the date range.
If you want to use dates in existing cells, I think you will need to use Advanced Filters.
