Filtering by zip code

I have a database of approx 3500 records including name, address, zip.

I need to filter this database by a list of approx 200 zip codes which I have in a separate workbook (20 mile radius of 1 zip code)

What is the easiest way to go about this and is there a function for simply filtering records by a specified radius of 1 zip code for future reference?

Using Excel 2007.

Thanks,
Brandon

Welcome to the Forum,

You could consider adding an extra column and assign each zip code a number to an area, then you can filter based on the number which should fulfill your requirement.

thanks for the quick follow up.

not sure I understand the logic though. can you elaborate?

also, what are your thoughts on the radius approach? is there a simple function that would allow me to filter records in a spreadsheet by the radius of the zip codes in a specific column?

The zipcodestogo software is a list of all the zip codes in the US. I already have all the zip codes in the US on file.

what I need is a solution for going into an excel database and filtering large numbers of zip codes by radius.
