Hi all, I have a (probably pretty stupid question) I work a lot with cleaning internal databases . I often have to filter out to particular job titles and one I always have a problem with is "IT" so that would be say and IT manager, a HEad of IT, an IT analyst etc etc etc (endless number of possibilities here). My problem is when I filter out a column to contain IT I get back anything containing a word that contains those letters for example "audit" or "transit". Ive been breaking down the filters to begins with or ends with IT which helps a little Ive also been including an asterix/ space but it still brings back other titles I dont need. Can anyone help me with how to do this?

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Thanks , yes this seems to work for some but it still brings back audit/transit or words that end with IT. :(

Excel 2013
AB
1HeaderHelper
2auditFALSE
3head of ITTRUE
4IT AnaylsytTRUE
5audit transitFALSE
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
B2=ISNUMBER(SEARCH(" IT "," "&A2&" "))

"cleaning internal databases"

It sounds like one step in the cleaning might be to change IT to I.T. with a helper column (then copy paste values over the original column)

=SUBSTITUTE(" "&A1&" "," IT ", " I.T. ")
