find and replace, at end of text or number problem

have part numbers like
123*1234*
4563*123456*
12*345698*
i can find and replace * using ~* i replace with a dash.
then try to find only the dash at the end of the number 123-1234-
need to find the dash at the end with nothing behind it, space,"", " ", space bar nothing will work.

i want to replace with a blank, or remove the last dash.
or replace it with a different symbol that i can find at the end, and then remove it.
