Hi,

Does anyone know a quick way I can search for a cell that contains text from another cell and then replace the cell with the text found?

For example:

Column A
234 ABC 123
BCD 233 745
559 CDE 765

Column B
CDE
ABC
CDE

I need to find the text from column B in column A and then replace the column B cell with the column A cell

Thanks,

Kat

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
You need a helper column. enter this in C1, fill down, then copy column C as values onto column B (then clear col. C):

=INDEX(A:A,MATCH("*"&B1&"*",$A$1:$A$2000,0))
