find data based on value of another cell

I have a list of values but i need them to be quickly available in a cell when i enter the serial as can be seen in the sample below.

so basically i want to be able to type any serial from A8:A19 into cell C26 and have what ever the serial number is that has been entered the corresponding total value to be displayed in cell D26.

Any assistance would be appreciated as i have a whole database to create and this is part of the most vital aspect.

=VLOOKUP(C26,$A$8:$D$19,4,0)
