Good morning. I have a table that I update weekly tracking change requests. I need to find the week of the earlier change request that is still in work.
In B2, I need to look in column E, find the first non-blank record and return the corresponding week from column A. Most of what I have found looks for the first nonblank cell and returns that value. Can anyone help with this?
I have been looking at Index/Match but just not seeing it.

Thanks in advance.

Excel Facts

Difference between two dates
Secret function! Use =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y")&" years"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")&" months"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")&" days"
What version of Excel are you using?

I suggest that you update your Account details (or click your user name at the top right of the forum) so helpers always know what Excel version(s) & platform(s) you are using as the best solution often varies by version. (Don’t forget to scroll down & ‘Save’)

Also does column E contain a formula, or are the "blank" cells totally empty?

Sorry about that. I am using Office 365 on Windows. Column E is blank.

Thanks for that.
How about
Excel Formula:
=INDEX(FILTER(A3:A50,E3:E50<>""),1)

Hi had the same problem and the suggested excel formula worked for me. However, I was hoping to get the last value in a row rather than the first. Is there a simple fix?

Thanks for the help

Yes it's possible, but you need to start a thread of your own for this question. Thanks
