find last row in group

Good Morning

how would I go about achieving the following

my data looks like this


acar
aboat
amotorcycle
bboat
bcar
chouse



the desired output - Put a x in column "C" marking this to be the last row listed for each group of column "A"

acar
aboat
amotorcyclex
bboat
bcarx
chousex

Can be a formula or a macro

Put this formula on row 1 and copy down for all rows:

=IF(A1<>A2,"x","")
