I thought I had a handle on this but its not working. I did a search but still cannot get it to work.

I'm trying to replace blanks in a table field with a string. Right now, I have an update query with criteria "Is Null" or "" which identifies all my blanks. In 'Update To' a put "string". When I try to review the results, it still just brings back all the blanks?

Any help?

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
This may be a stupid question, but did you actually run the update query?
