Finding data between sheets

Mind has gone blank and I've nit used excel in years.

I have 2 sets of data in 2 columns on 1 sheet.

In sheet 2, when I input data into cell b2 for example. I want formula to look at column A in sheet 1 for matching value from cell by and put the corresponding data from column 2 in sheet 1 into cell b3 in sheet 2

would a vlookup in B3 do the trick??

=vlookup(b2,sheet1!a:b,2,false)
