finding max value

So i have one cloum that states the days of the week i.e. Monday Tuesday etc. And a column right besides it that states prices. What my subroutine is suppose to do is initially find the day of the week the user wants to search for (i.e. search for Friday1). Once it does that its suppose to find the highest value in the price column up to and including the day of the week that was search.

I am able to do the first part (i.e. search for the day of the week using arrays)
howeve am unsure of how to find the max value.
Any ideas how i can continue?

Maybe something like this ARRAY formula (you will need to adjust the ranges to suite...
=MAX(IF(A2:A7="Friday",B2:B7,0))
