How do I set the "focus to the field containing the search criteria before I carry out the FindNext action"? The quoted parts are directly taken fromt he VB help file. I don't quite know what it means. What I want to do is have the macro find each occurrence in the database of a certain name, make a change to another field associated with the field I'm searcrhing, and continue down the database and stop when it gets to the bottom.

You did not post the quoted code!

However it sounds more like a job for an Update Query. This will do th job much better than searching through records one at a time.
