first data point not showing

hi folks, i am doing a simple 2 d line chart for monthly values compared to YTD targets. Months vertically down the page (col A), MTD (col B) and YTD Targets in Col C. My graph, however, does not show the first MTD data point. the Months are in as text so i wondered if that could have anything to do with it?

You can see the MTD line by filling all blank values of Column B with 0

i found the same thing. i don't know why though.

I have noticed that by default, empty cells or null values are displayed as gaps in charts

that may be right but why doesn't the first value show? hmmmm... MS is messing with us again.
