Fluff solved the original question here: INDEX MATCH 2 Columns in sheet1 with 2 columns in sheet2 return value from Sheet1 into Sheet2 (no VBA)
I didn't think to ask for an answer involving handling BLANKs, and formatting the results of the INDEX MATCH when the column can contain both Dates and Text values.
Fluffs SOLVED answer:
=INDEX(Sheet1!$H$2:$H$59,MATCH($A2&"|"&$H2,Sheet1!$A$2:$A59&"|"&Sheet1!$D$2:$D$59,0))
Now I introduced an "IFERROR" statement:
=IFERROR(INDEX(Sheet1!$H$2:$H$59,MATCH($A2&"|"&$H2,Sheet1!$A$2:$A59&"|"&Sheet1!$D$2:$D$59,0)), "No Entry")
Now, If the INDEX MATCH value can be a BLANK, contain TEXT, or contains DATE, how do I get it to display properly on the second sheet?
Formatting the Second Sheet column as "General", "Text", or "Date" doesn't work for all three possibilities.
What's the fix?
(Fluff- I almost posted this in the original question, but thought it might rate it's own post...hope that's ok)
