How do I deal with columns containing Japan Yen?

Every time I try and convert them to dollars by dividing by the going rate I get an error.

If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes
Looks text entry to me.

Can you select one cell and hit F2 then look at the formula bar, is Yen mark still there?

If it is:
try
Code:
With the Replace box
        What = \
        Replacement  nothing

Well, got rid of the yen mark and made sure each column is formatted numeric with 2 decimals and now I get divide by zero errors when I try and divide L1/K1. This is a pain.

OK

They are still Text value.

If they are in one column
1) select the column
2) goto [Data]-[TextToColumn] then click "finish"

if it doesn't work, extra space(s) in the cell,

add one column and enter =Trim(Clean(a1)) a1 needs to be altered
