Format cell color based on date

I would like to highlight cells based on the date:

Example:

Value A1 = 11/8/05
Value A2:A5 = misc data (may be based on formulas)
Value B1 = 11/9/05
Value B2:B5 = misc data (may be based on formulas)

When the (TODAY) function (wherever I hide it) is 11/8/05 then A2:A5 background formating is green. The next day (11/9/05) the formating in A2:A5 reverts back to std. and B2:B5 background becomes green.

Also this must be done in the background as the highlighted cells may already contain a own formulas.

1.Select cell A2
2. From the format menu, choose conditional formatting
3. From the drop-down box, choose "formula is"
4. Type this formula:
=A$1=TODAY()
5.Click on format
6. From the "patterns" tab, choose green

Copy and paste to cells A2:B5
