How do I change the format of a range of cells dependant on a single cell contents. Conditional formating only changes that cell.

Welcome to the Mr Excel board!

Can you explain in more detail just what you have and what you want to happen?

Hi Deadly48

Welcome to the Board!

It depends on how you write the Formula Is expression within the Conditional Formatting. For example:

Type a 1 into cell A1, now highlight the entire row (ie select it). Then go Format> Conditional Formatting, change to Formula Is and type:

$A1=1

and set the format you want.

If you return to Excel, you should see the entire row is now formatted as you specified.

Best regards

That's incorrect.:)

You can use conditional formatting to format other cells by using formulas as Richard has indicated.

Richard,
Thanks but this still only changes the format of the cell being eddited. I want to change the format of a range of cells ie. A1:A10 to have fill colour dependant on the contents of cell B1 = 1.
