Format $ in Thousands with a comma

I would like to format the following in Thousands 1,234,567.00 which would format to 1235 by using a custom format of #,

How could I make it display as 1,235 In other words format in thousands with the comma?

Try:

$#,##0,

The trailing comma causes the number to be scaled by 1000.
