Formating numbers with symbol in a data in excel

I need urgent help! Can someone pls show me how to format a cell in excel with less than symbol on the number in a group of data in a column? I need to find the median, max value and min values but the cells with < is affecting my calculation.
My numbers are arranged like this

Why not remove the less than with a Search and Replace (replace less than sign with nothing)?
