Afternoon,

I am trying to decrease the size of a file by clearing all the formating in about 20,000 cells but for some reason when I format the range to no fill, no colour, no bold etc etc instead of decreasing the file size it increases from 7000KB to 41,000KB and I don't understand why. Any help appreciated as usual.

thanks

Do you want to clear all formatting from the worksheet(s), or just some of it?

If you want to clear it all there is an option to do it, in Excel 2010 you'll find it in the Editing section of the ribbon under Clear.
