New user to Macro's. I have a download into excel and I want it to format to the way that I like it automatically (ie. move copumn c to comlumn A, Center column C, insert columns at certain widths, etc.). Is that possible to do using a macro and if so, could you recommend a book/site or whatever to find out how to do it?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Do You want just to format like:

1. I want to move column A before column F
2. To change Font in cells A10:C53 to Arial Bold
3. To put borders etc.

If the macro must do only this so click Tools > Macro > Record new macro and give a name to your macro

execute all steps (like move, formatting etc.) and press stop button (the new toolbar)

after, when you want to start the macro just choose tools > Macro and choose your macro

Welcome to the Board!

One of the best ways is to record a macro while doing your formatting. You might want to test on a copy first. Click on Tools | Macro | Record New Macro - then give your macro a name and also specify where you want to store it. Then, as you do your formatting, Excel will record all your actions. Click on 'Stop' when you are finished. You can run your macro by pressing Alt+F8 and then select your macro from the list. To view the code created, press Alt+F11 and look for the workbook name in the left pane. Expand the list and look for Module 1 - double click to view the code.

There is a search facility on this site as well as an online store and plenty of Excel sites on the net.
