formatting of data series labels and lines (line chart) is lost, when I slice data

I was trying to improve the look of my combo chart, which has columns for one series and lines for 3 other series of data. I did a great job of getting it into tip top shape so that data labels were called out above the lines, the lines color coded, the numbers were black....I made sure to Save my worksheet after doing this too. But, when I went to slice the data in a new way, suddenly all the formatting was lost.
Only when I return to the way I sliced the data when I was formatting it does the original formatting return.

How to format the data series and label so that now matter how I slice the data the formatting stays?

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
A bit of work i think: I would record a macro to do the formatting, labels, etc, etc.
Then anytime I do another slice call the macro to redo the formatting.
