I am working on a exel project that is gathering data from cells in a few other work books. These workbooks are updated weekly and renamed to the end of the week which is saturday (example: week ending 12/3/05). Is there a way I can have these links automatically identify the newly created workbook and pull the appropriate times from the workbooks they are linked to without going through each cell and chaning the file name manually for each one?

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Welcome to the Board!

You can peform a multiple link update with Edit-->Links-->Change Source-->Browse to the new workbook.

Hope that helps,

thanks for the help smitty, what im trying to accomplish is having all the cells update to the newly renamed workbook on a weekly basis. I created a summary spreadsheet that has the week ending date for the workbooks i would like to reference. I'm trying to get the workbook to recognize when the week ending date is changed and update the workbook names in my cells to the new workbook just by changing the date.

so if i have 4 workbooks named

weekending1 11/26/05
weekending2 11/26/05
weekending3 11/26/05
weekending4 11/26/05

and i change the date on my summary tab to 12/3/05

all the cells that are linked to those old workbooks will automatically change to

weekending1 12/3/05
weekending2 12/3/05
weekending3 12/3/05
weekending4 12/3/05

i greatly appreciate any assistance on this.
