formula audit trace disappeared

I installed a new monitor. After doing so, my audit tracing tool will not work. You know, the one the you click on a cell, and hit the trace button, then excell highlights all of the cells that are involved in the calculation.

I have reinstalled excel, but I still can not get the trace audit tool to work. Any ideas appreciated.
