I'd like excel to pull data from a sheet by recognizing the row label. I have a summary file every month I paste the detail file to another tab. The # of rows changes on the data sheet so my linked cell to the summary may pull incorrect data. Indeed excel to recognize the row that says Total Direct Labor no matter where it is on the sheet & populate my summary sheet. The row name on the summary sheet is not the same so I didn't think sum if will work.
Ex
Summary sheet
hours [cell b1] Id like to have populated
Data tab (row name is Total Direct Labor) I cut and let new data in every month so if I just link summary to data it won't pick up the correct # if the # of rows change on the data sheet. So I'd like excel to find row labeled "total direct labor" no matter where it is on the sheet & pull the numbers from that row & populate my summary. Hope this was kind of clear
