Formula displayed in cell rather than calculated value

When I enter a formula into a cell on this workbook I am in at the moment, the actual formula is being displayed rather than the calculation. The formula check box in tools->options->view is switched to off and so I don't know what else I can do to display the calculation.

I have opened new worksheets and formulas display correctly on these, it's just this one workbook that's causing problems.

Any ideas what the problem could be??

goto tools>options then on the view tab, uncheck display formula.

Make sure the cell is not formatted as Text. You will have to refresh your formulas (F2 Enter) after changing the format.
